Oversaw all aspects of information services, finance, human resources, public relations, and legal matters for the company.  Hired staff, established an office structure, planned the annual budget and revised the expense plan. Established a clear information strategy for member use within new technologies. Developed and strengthened relationships with supply partners.  Benchmarked to world class manufacturing and distribution firms to improve strategies and processes.  Updated the strategic plan document and began the redesign process.  Enhanced the financial reporting systems to report on the progress of the business.

Directed the company’s re-engineering effort, rebuilding sales and marketing and influencing operations in order to position the company as the leading independent service organization (ISO) focused on comprehensive asset management outsourcing of high technology healthcare equipment maintenance.  Prepared for the sale of the company.  The purchase by  General Electric was completed in 1998.

Developed a market presence versus original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to gain new business of $5,000,000.  Achieved a new level of professionalism in the sales team through the implementation of training and incentive programs.  Established budgeting and targeting objectives.  Succeeded in renewing major contracts, and winning new bids.  Improved communication within and between the sales, operations and field operations staffs.

Produced communication tools for meetings, training, education, and change of control.  Established a going concern to support the families of the two principals of the company.  Established a company that brought services through competent consultants meeting client requirements.  Secured billings in excess of $250,000.

Area Director of Operations, 1992 – 1995
Provided consulting services on the company’s home care, physician and PBM services.  Consulted with the executive suites of over 40 hospitals and integrated systems. Pre­sented the company’s managed care strategy to the Texas Hospital Association Convention. As director of operations, over­saw all activities of a staff of 275 employees in 13 branch­es through­out the five southwest states, and was responsible for gross annual sales in excess of $75,000,000.

Developed a hospital strategy for the area and the corporation.  Produced a newsletter for healthcare executives.  Successfully sold the first capitated prescription drug contract for the company worth $4,000,000 per year, covering 200,000 lives. Executed business redesign and reduction in force and facilities.  Established and implemented a standard formulary and operational best practices.  Designed and implemented a national operations benchmarking system.

BAXTER HEALTHCARE CORPORATION, Grand Prairie, Texas
Senior Healthcare Consultant, Corporate Sales, 1984 – 1992 ;
Managed the corporate program consulting services, while coordinating operations of a $250,000,000 sales matrix team.  Provided diverse services, including Value Improvement Process, Quality Leadership Process, marketing and strategic planning, access to the resources, and knowledge base of the corporation.  Coordinated sales and consulting resources for key corporate customers in the southwest.

Spearheaded and successfully led the effort to sell over $1,000,000 in annual consult­ing services, either in cash or in “BCC dollars” in trade for purchases.  These efforts led to documented customer savings in excess of $10,000,000.  Developed and imple­mented value added services of the corporation to be made available to key custom­ers by and through the senior healthcare consultant–an “executive on loan” to corporate customers of the company.
